The Canadiens Are Opening The Biggest Restaurant in Canada!
1909 Taverne Moderne Largest Restaurant in Canada
In the summer, the Montreal Canadiens announced plans to open two new restaurants this fall. 1909 Taverne Moderne is opening its first location directly beside the Bell Centre and the second at Place Bell in Laval.
The first location will open in time for the Habs’ home opener on October 10th and is set to be the largest restaurant of its kind in Canada, featuring three levels, over 25,000 sq ft. of space and room for over 1,000 guests.
Of course this being Montreal there must be some flare as well. Well, the restaurant is to be featuring a menu by executive chef Jean-Sébastien Giguère, previously with famed Montreal restaurants Toqué chef and Au Pied de Cochon.
Everything looks ready to go, as 1909 Taverne Moderne welcomed its very first guests yesterday: Montreal Canadiens!
Here’s what Geoff Molson, owner of the Canadiens, had to say to NHL.com
“We know that Montrealers are as discerning about their restaurants as they are about their sports. With 1909 Taverne Moderne, our goal is to give fans a space where they won’t have to choose between having a great meal and watching their favourite event in an electric atmosphere,” said Montreal Canadiens Owner, President, and CEO, Geoff Molson. “We’ve been working with our partners at Cara Operations to ensure that every detail is considered. We’re very excited about this new venture and are looking forward to welcoming fans to 1909 in time for the start of the new NHL season.”
The properties will be managed by Cara Operations.
